We managed to stop Advize’s new President for a few so that we could do a little hard hitting journalism and find out not only what makes her tick but how tall her childhood garden gnome was.
What were you doing before you joined Advize?
For the last 15+ years I’ve been working in Healthcare, first at Highmark BCBS and then at Clover Health. Most recently I was with Clover Health where I oversaw Provider Solutions, Payment Integrity, SIU, Credentialing and Provider Data Management. I lived in New York City for several years while at Clover but about a year ago I moved back to my home city of Pittsburgh!
How did you and Advize “find each other?”
I was actually an early client of Advize. While I was at Highmark managing our SIU, I met Jeanmarie through a coworker at a conference and we quickly hit it off. At the time Advize was able to provide a niche service that we were looking to contract. For the last nearly ten years we’ve always stayed in touch and during that time I had the chance to get to know Charlie, Dan, Eric and Joe as well through NHCAA conferences. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with such a passionate, talented team who also just happens to be a really good time to hang with 😊
When was the last time you worked incredibly hard?
Transitioning my workload during my last few weeks at Clover. My Clover teams were like family to me, so I was determined to make sure they were all set up for success after my departure.
So, what do you like to do in your free time, like when you aren’t Senior Directing or President-ing things?
I love music so I spend a lot of my time either at local live shows, shopping for vinyl records, or traveling for concerts. I hate to break it to everyone, but if you’re tired of hearing about Jeanmarie’s adventures to see The Boss prepare yourself because I have a similar habit of following around U2. I’m already counting the days until I see them in Vegas later this year!
What’s in your fridge right now?
Fridge is often stocked with good intentioned healthy options like fruits and veggies for us to juice in the morning, but if I’m honest I eat out or order in way too often and I’m an extremely picky eater. Burgers, tacos, chicken fingers and pizza make up about 90% of my diet.
What do you think of garden gnomes?
I’m not a fan of garden gnomes but unfortunately for me my mother was a fan. My family home had a large 3 foot gnome in the front yard for years.
How many windows are in New York?
I started my career at Deloitte as an auditor so I’m always going to ask clarifying questions first. Are you asking New York state or New York City?
Dogs or Cats?
Dogs! We take our dog everywhere with us. I have a small Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Olive who you’ll likely see roaming around in my background during Teams meetings in the future.
Cake or Pie?
Cake. I can’t cook at all, but I really enjoy baking. I, like many other people, started watching The Great British Bake Off pre-pandemic and decided to take on baking to keep me sane while stuck in our small NYC apartment through most of COVID. While I’m not a great baker, I do make a really good cheesecake.
Hamburger or Taco?
This honestly might be the toughest question of them all. I’ll probably vote taco just because there’s a bit more variety with tacos for me.
Blue or Red?
Blue – hands down it’s always been my favorite color.
Pancake or Waffle?
I often go with French toast when I get brunch, but if I had to choose I’d probably go with waffle.
Ninjas or Pirates?
Pirates for sure! I’m from Pittsburgh so not picking the Buccos would just feel wrong.
Last TV show you binged?
Succession! I binged all the previous seasons right before the last season started. Now that it has finished, I’m ready for the next season of Billions.
Iced Coffee or Hot Coffee?
Shockingly the answer for me is no coffee. If I need a caffeine kick during the day I’ll just go for a Mt. Dew or a Coke.
Welcome aboard!
