We have a new member of our team who you’re going to want to get to know.  Charlie Meyer has recently joined our team as the Director of Healthcare Fraud and Abuse. He is a career Healthcare Fraud Investigator, with experience in the Medicaid/Medicare/Commercial space.  As a consultant who serves as a partner to his clients, he has successfully helped build and manage outsourced Special Investigations Units for payers.  This includes putting together a process and team that has helped recover or prevent tens of millions of dollars of fraud, waste and abuse.  Charlie is a sports enthusiast who loves playing, watching and coaching his kids sports and spending time with his family.  Lets take some time to get to know Charlie a little better.

What were you doing before you joined Advize Health and how did you and Advize Health “find each other”?

I have spent my whole career in the Healthcare Fraud, Waste and Abuse arena.  I started my career at the Attorney Generals Medicaid Fraud Control Unit as an investigator/auditor and then moved on to Fidelis Care and Anthem in their Special Investigations Unit.  Over the last five years, I was the Managing Director of Healthcare Fraud and Abuse for T&M USA where I helped grow the Healthcare division by providing payors in the Medicaid/Medicare space with solutions relating to fraud, waste and abuse and outsourced Special Investigation Units services.  I am really appreciative and thankful for my time spent at T&M USA where I was fortunate enough to work with a tremendous team/leadership group  and was able to meet great people and provider great value.

Jeanmarie and I met probably 5 years ago and stayed in touch over the years always trying to work together on different projects.  She has built a very impressive company and her vision and strategic growth plans aligned with mine.  I’m really excited to join the Advize team and add value to their impressive team of experts in the healthcare space.

When not at work, what do you do for fun?

Most of my activities outside of work involve my family and sports or a combination of both.  I coach my 7 year old’s baseball, soccer and flag football teams which takes up the majority of my afternoons and weekends.  I have recently taken up golf which as a competitive person hasn’t gone well but I do enjoy getting out for a few hours every few weeks.  Also enjoy the beach – my wife and I try to take advantage of living on Long Island so close to the beach as much as possible.

Do you have any go-to music when you’re working?

I usually have some type of country music playing in the background on pandora through the day which keeps me relaxed and focused.  I’m also into podcasts and really enjoy listening to Gary Vaynerchuk and Jesse Itzler who are inspiring and motivation especially when it comes to entrepreneurship, growing a business and what’s important in life.
