Dr. Phil Smith is a dual-boarded physician (Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics) who accomplishes huge projects including automating healthcare operations, achieving high levels of physician adoption of these technologies as well as healthcare operations and analytics. He formerly served for 9+ years as Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer at the 44-hospital, multi-state Adventist Health System (which includes the Florida Hospital System) and most recently automated the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. He is author of Making Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) Work which is published internationally. He currently does independent healthcare management, analytics, and technology consulting and is an advisor to medical software companies, healthcare organizations, and to an innovative global medical device company.
