Got a chance to hassle one of Advize’s newest team members, Melissa Dupre. Here’s how the interrogation went…

What were you doing before you joined Advize?

I was a Registered Nurse at Cleveland Clinic in Florida, and because my husband is active duty military, we got orders to move to the Boston area. Not even two weeks after we got moved into our new house, I fell down the stairs in the middle of the night, and broke my foot. Since I couldn’t work in the hospital on crutches, with a non weight bearing cast, I started applying for administrative nursing roles. I was offered a position at SGS (the Medicare Zone 6 ZPIC), and became a Nurse Reviewer. I was apprehensive at first, but came to love it and have stuck with it ever since. My latest role before joining Advize was as a Sr. Nurse Auditor for MedReview, Inc. I mainly dealt with issues related to physician quality/standard of care, and ultimately, opioid prescribing.

How did you and Advize “find each other”? Did Jeanmarie force you to work here? It’s ok you can tell me.

I can’t recall exactly how Jeanmarie and I met, but it’s likely that we’ve crossed paths at any number of conferences. I’ve talked to her off and on over the past 5 or so years. Recently, we discussed me possibly making a change in my career, and this time, the timing was right for me to make a move and come onboard at Advize. I had always wanted to, but I think it was just a matter of timing.

I saw the acronym CMSRN on your resume. What up with that?

Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse. It’s a board certification, and most Magnet hospitals desire that all of their nurses’ be board certified in their individual specialties.

Hmm, sounds pretty important! So, what’s this whole Senior Nurse Auditor thing about? Do you audit nurses taxes or something?

I audit medical records to identify issues that could potentially be fraudulent, wasteful, or abusive. I also identify issues related to payment integrity.

When was the last time you worked incredibly hard?

When we moved from Boston to North Carolina! Moving is a pain both mentally and physically.

So, what do you like to do in your free time, like when you aren’t auditing stuff?

I like to spend time with my family. I have a 22 year old son in college, and a 19 year old daughter, also in college. My husband is pretty awesome, too.
